[ The screen flickers for the briefest moment before Gwen appears in the image. Her blonde hair is tied into a ponytail, she's got her labcoat on, and the lights are ... well, clearly on emergency mode.

She is half-worried the message won't go through the way some of the texts on the network haven't been working too well (which was part of the reason she opted for video, besides providing a face to an important message) but it seems to settle itself. And the light is strong enough that the image of her shouldn't be too dark.

Hi. My name is Gwen Stacy and I'm part of the Xenobiology and Genetics Department on this ship. On behalf of the department, I just wanted to let everyone know that due to both recent events and previously disappearing laboratory floors, the Xenogen labs are closed until further notice.

If anyone still needs a member of the department for anything, we will be available.

And if anyone has any questions, let us know. Thank you for your understanding.

I'd imagine until the jump. [ No one knows how serious the threat of the Tranquility is better than Severus, who is still in possession of Lydia Shepard's last words, but there's a pattern to all this that can't be overlooked. ] With luck it'll get sorted before then. That was the sound of a lanky teenage boy hitting the wall just outside the lab's lobby, but before anyone can be super alarmed, the doors -- not yet locked down as promised, heeyyy -- slide open and Peter steps into view. There is a kind of a full bodied hesitation, like he is physically considering pulling a Grandpa Simpson and walking right back out when he sees Gwen has company, but it's, you know.

[ He managed to survive Captain Stacy kermitfacing him over the dinner table in that he did not immediately turn to dust (he just got mouthy), so Peter can tolerate a little judgemental eyeballing from his girlfriend's space boss. He does so by pressing a smile across his face. ]

I might just take those samples Carolyn gave us [ she says to Professor Snape, because that had been one of the things she'd been curious to start looking into before ... all this other stuff happened ] but otherwise, I think most of it is accessible through the network.
