[When the feed clicks on, it's a bit before Jennifer speaks, as she plays with various settings. She then clears her throat, looking nervous.]

Okay. Uh. I figured I should probably introduce myself eventually... I'm Dr. Jennifer Keller. Hopefully, I'm going to be working in the medbay soon, so I thought I would say hello to everyone, especially my fellow medics. I was- well, I should say I am a surgeon, and I hope I will prove to be a valuable member of your team.

I've gotten the gist of what's going on here, so I won't waste my breath asking where the rest of my friends are... [There's a pause.] Sorry. I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'll try not to get lost, hmm?

Kudos to handling space better than most people from Earth. [ A slight pause. ]

Assuming you're from Earth and not born on some kind of colony in a far-flung future. [ It says something that he's even considering the possibility of that being the case. But hey, you go cosmic, almost anything is possible. ]

[A fellow new-arrival, or newly awakened anyway, and that's enough to catch her attention. That they've both got doctorates in the medical/science field? Even more interesting.]

I'd have to agree with the overwhelming bit. I'm Samantha Grimm, I just...woke here a few days ago as well.

Thanks, Peter. And yes, I am from Earth and lived there most of my life, but I've spent some time doing space travel, too, so at least being on a spaceship is one of the least weird parts.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what to make of everything so far, honestly... the whole "came here against my will" part is what's getting me more than anything.

Excellent. You're already miles ahead of most people when they first get here. [ He lets out a laugh. ]

Well, I doubt many would come here voluntarily. I find myself rather disliking the traits people seem to be giving a ship.

That's right- I understand the med bay is pretty understaffed, so I'll do what I can.

Seriously. I wonder if it's all true? I mean, I guess people wouldn't lie about those kinds of things, though...

I find it rather hard to believe myself. But if it's true, there should be evidence to support it. I plan on a little exploration later.

[Look, a congenial, totally normal looking dude is on the screen.]

I do want to take a look around, too- and time will tell for the rest of it.

I'm Dr. Keller when I'm on the job, but Jennifer otherwise. Do you work in the infirmary?

Yeah- he's apparently been here for a while. It makes my head spin, because I just saw him moments before I left...

My brother's been here two months. I assume I was just in that cryogenic chamber longer. [Because nothing else makes sense, right?]

That could be it, definitely. There's got to be a logical explanation to it.

[She hopes.]

I do. I'm a nurse at home, but kind of a jack of all trades here.

[Punctuated by the minor version of jazzhands.]

Yeah. I'm going to talk to my teammate first and see what he remembers and I don't. I mean, I know alternate universes and timelines happen, too, so there's that.

[She smiles at that.]

Sounds like that happens out of necessity here, huh? Considering that there are relatively few medical staff for a ship of this size...

Pretty much. Our staff rotation changes every jump depending who makes it out of stasis and new arrivals.

Alternate universes and timelines? Those exist?

So I've heard. Well, I'll do as much as I can in the time I have here, I can promise that.

Where I come from they do, yes. [Jennifer winces slightly, feeling a little guilty for sharing that.] I mean... not a whole lot of people are aware of it, but I guess my nondisclosure agreements don't mean much here.

...Right. [Sorry, that's all she can say about that right now, because...wow.]

I knew we were behind other species in quantum technology, I just never thought we were that far behind.

Yeah, I didn't really think about it much, but... there's a lot that ordinary humans aren't aware of. Well, back home, at least.

You're not an ordinary human?

I am- but I work for the government. Super secret-type stuff, so I know things civilians don't.

Sounds like we have some things in common.

I'm glad someone else here knows... I still feel a little weird talking about it, though. I had to sign all sorts of disclaimers and forms and stuff saying I wouldn't talk about anything except in very general terms, so that's still at the forefront of my mind.

I'm hoping that our governments and reigning corporations have little pull here and make such promises void. I was working on Mars under the same pretense.

That's true- it's not exactly like the U.S. government is going to come in and take my job. They're probably more concerned about where I disappeared to, anyway...

I'm not sure if its a comforting thought to know they're probably searching for us or not.
[And that's probably saying something if she thinks this place might be better than going back to her home and government.]

[Jennifer has been trying to avoid thinking about them too much, but if both she and John are missing...]

[Whoops, sorry that just slipped out there.]

[Well, that's good for an awkward pause. Jennfier swallows nervously.]

Oh. No. Sorry. It's just...uh, realization suddenly. Really the less people looking for us the better.

But that you have people. That's good. [Wow. She just sounded as awkward as her brother there. That's not an accomplishment.]

Yeah... yeah, it's good. And if you're safe here... well, that's good, too.

[There's a raised brow and a soft snort.] As safe as any of us are here, anyway. As tense as security seems, I'm not sure it's very safe at all.

Touche. Everything I've heard so far doesn't point to this place being a cakewalk by any means.

No it doesn't. [At least she has a superhuman brother looking out for her interests though.]

But I'm sure there's worse.

Yeah... it could always be worse.
