[ the distress signal is tapped out using her fingernail against a wall. it's one of the few signals jane knows in morse code, a trick taught to her by her father during their many late night stargazes. ]

a few seconds pass, silently but only slightly disturbed by soft, hurried pants and then, ]

Hello. I'm Dr. Jane Foster of — of Earth. Or Midgard. [ jane feels the need to mention that, in case she tripped slapstick style into a gravitational anomaly and ended up god knows where again. she knows that by this point she shouldn't feel surprised waking up in a strange place, lost and confused, with a number tattooed on her arm. after all, safety and normalcy had pretty much been tossed out the window as soon as she hit the god of thunder with her van.

it still does, though. it's like a seizure by the throat, a fire shut up in her bones that makes her both restless and weary. it's the fear that never truly leaves the body, like malaria, and it's a fear clearly evident in her voice when she speaks again, ]

I — don't know where I am. Or how I got here. Or what any of this is. [ she won't exactly say it, but jane is completely clueless. it's an odd, sickening feeling and one she isn't used to. usually, she could grasp at straws, ultimately finding a conclusion through the little scraps of clues she was handed. in fact, her entire career has been built on that. here, however, there are no answers and no work for jane to use as a distraction. all there is the silence and the cold, harsh reality of the unknown.

jane lets out a sigh, heavy and tired as if the realisation just dawned on her, and she runs a shaky hand through her hair. ] If anyone can hear me, I need answers. Please.

I — I don't know. I'll go and see. [ jane stands, careful to walk along the wall and out of the way until she discovers the floor. then she freezes, staying exactly where she's at until Miss Potts arrives. ]

Einstein-Rosen Bridge? [ jane's taken aback with the question, and her brain slowly creaks to life, trying to cast her mind back to the past and back home.

Did she have brown hair, glasses, and the sense of humour of a twelve year old? Wait, hang on — Einstein-Rosen Bridge? I'm here because of that?

[ not that it's mentioned, it does make an awful amount of sense. though, it begs the question: who would have both the capability and the motivation to bring jane onto a ship? ]

It's a theory. Given the multiple points in time that people are drawn from, it's not that far-fetched to assume that there's something that's making this point a fixed point in space, but is drawing things in through a wormhole.

[ jane's an astrophysicist; flailing and making coffee is what they do best. and, since she can't seem to find a coffee machine, jane proceeds to do the former for a few moments until she's gathered her thoughts. ]

Alright, I'm in space. The guide mentions they don't know who or a why. Do we know of a how?

[ as in, gravitational anomalies, new quantum frequencies, how exactly did she move from her flat (which she's pretty sure she was in) to here? ]

There is some understanding of our modes of transportation now we are here, but as to how we come to be, or indeed how those of us who return - we presume - do so, we remain in ignorance.

[ jane doesn't need to be told twice to do so. usually, her curiosity leads her to trouble but until she receives some information to really feed it and dull the fear, she's staying right there. ]

[ jane doesn't say it, but the small shrug and the brief smile on her face implies that that's the first, second, and last impression of darcy lewis. ]

It's not far-fetched at all. [ she rubs the heel of her palm against an eye, lightly sighing and remembering all those months she spent trying to find thor. ] Whatever is doing this must be very powerful if can bring people here without a similar network.

[ the numbers are correct, the machine works, but without a proper connection or enough power, the link is never fully drawn. it's a fact she's familiar with after multiple failures in the new mexico desert. her einstein-rosen bridge was never powerful enough to maintain the connection. the bifröst is, however. but the bifröst is full of bright lights and the sound of a thousand freight trains. it's more like a motorcycle, not a prius like whatever it is that brought them here. ]

[Thor was already moving when he receives her message back. He knows Jane wasn't on the ship before, so she obviously arrived in the last jump, just like Darcy. Which means she's probably somewhere in the 030 rooms.

When her message comes in, he answers immediately.]

I'm on my way to find you. Are you in your room? What is the number?

As fine as I can be after being kidnapped. [ that's putting it very mildly, darcy. ]

What's the last thing you remember? [ cos jane can only remember bits and pieces. ]

[ hold off the colouring because jane didn't even catch a peek of thor or ned (though she doesn't know who that is). ]

Uh, mostly. [ jane was kind of out of it once she regained consciousness and the door slid open. then once she did obtain her senses, she didn't think that following her kidnappers' orders (or whatever the hell they are) was a good idea. call it being stubborn for stubborn's sake. it's just how she rolls. ]

[ that nickname will never catch on, no matter how much darcy tries.

jane rubs the heel of her palm against her eye, before running the hand through her hair. it's as if she's trying to shake the memories loose. ]

After a minute she can be seen coming down the corridor. She keeps talking into the communicator so they don't have to yell though.]

I did the same thing when I arrived. First and foremost is that we're in space.

[She presses her lips together and waits for the inevitable reaction. Probably not as volatile as hers, seeing as Jane is more worldly about this sort of thing then she is, but a reaction all the same.]
