( the voice might be familiar, underneath the accent - upper-class British diction, the veriest hint of Italy to suggest that she isn't necessarily a native speaker: )

That's a bit depressing, at twenty-one.

Well, you're as old as your choice of clothes let you be.

[ She's over five hundred (technically, not anymore in the strict sense but shhh) and she looks terrific. ]

But there's nothing from stopping you from being a messed up young adult. They make loads of TV shows based on them nowadays.

( in other words, maybe lay off the mary janes, ilde. currently, she's essentially nesting in her dad's cardigan and the pajamas that came with her, her meager belongings sort of haphazardly put away in the room that she's been allotted here-- sort of a toss up, with the old man cardigan and the profusion of sheer lace. )

I'll just have to hope that the only way isn't really Essex. I doubt possibly hallucinatory space ships have that much spray-tan, and besides, I'd look a fright.

[ Suddenly Katherine is glad this is a voice only conversation, and she doesn't know why. ]

Pale can also be alluring. You just need to know how to carry yourself, and dress yourself of course. Fake tans are proof that not all advances go in the right direction.

( Ilde left the godawful jumpsuit where she found it out of a stubborn refusal to wear anything that hasn't been tailored for her. let's see how long this lasts. )

[ She gets the equivalent of a spiritual rash. ]

As long as it's not glitter and you don't have fangs or overly complicated ideas about romance with humans, you should be fine.

[ Katherine will probably use it at some point, if she really has to. It's so unsexy though. ]

( you know what-- Ilde has no objection to this change of subject, mainly because she had several reservations about what the subject was before it changed. )

But I think I might have hallucinated that one. Too good to be true.

Too predictable, on the other hand. A group of people, trapped god only knows where, and they-- make themselves a bar.

I think that sounds tragically plausible.

[ It is very much what she would do make someone do in the long run anyway. ]

I suppose exploring wouldn't hurt.

( Ilde is slightly less sure about this 'exploring' business, although the idea of a bar, especially one that according to Pepper might supply her with a lighter-- well. tempting. )

I could go either way, on that one.

[ well, there is no mistaking a familiar voice. but this woman's manners are shall we say, much altered from earlier. as she can't work the video yet at all, the walls of her room are the only witness to the way her eyebrows raise as the message continues.

and when she's finished, elizabeth wisely decides not to address the bulk of it and say simply: ]

Katherine. I seem to have arrived with two gowns other than the one I am wearing.

[ because, why not? those jumpsuits are ugly, and not to mention indecent. ]
