[When Jack appears in front of the camera, he's all charm and charisma. These shared memory events haven't dampened his spirits too much. Even if the cat's definitely out of the bag to a few more of his fellow passengers than he would like, as far as his mortality is concerned. He sits forward, arms crossed in front of him, eyes focused on the camera, and he smiles, but there's a hard glint to it. Something's on his mind.]

Some of us are new here. Some of us have been here a long time. [He raises his arm and the number SEC-001-003 can be seen, for a brief moment.] Some of us have seen manticores and shadow people, malfunctioning space stations, black holes, space pirates, space sickness, mazes and never-ending corridors, hive-mind space colonists who tried to make us assimilate. We've been put on lists, given god knows how many riddles by Smiley, and don't even get me started on those masks. And then most recently the shared memories and the dreams. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only non-horrible stop we ever made was the first, way the hell back at the Tansei station.

[He leans forward, his grin becoming more grim, his eyes more intent on the camera as he continues:] So we've got another jump coming up. Anybody wanna hazard a guess what's coming next? Welcoming all thoughts, theories, dreams, or desires, seeing as we really haven't got a clue, unless you know something I don't.

Don't you think that would jinx us though?

[He smiles at her question, shaking his head.] At this point? I doubt it. I mean, I hate to sound like a downer, but the way things usually go anyway they're gonna happen that way regardless of whether we make assumptions or not.

So what d'you say? Got anything in mind? Or maybe something you wish would happen, even if you know it probably won't? [Laying on the charm for the pretty lady? You better believe it ;)]

Haven't you learned saying anything on this ship in the way of predictions tends to bite us in the ass later?

My initial instinct is to say that we are all going to die miserably. But I am going to try and remain optimistic and say that, perhaps, we shall simply live miserably.

Oh yeah. And sitting back and idling, biding our time until the shit hits the fan the next time does us a hell of a lot of good too.

Things happen in this place whether we theorize about them or not. Might as well start brainstorming what's next, yeah?

[Okay, that gets a bit of a laugh from Jack.]

It's always good to look on the bright side of it all. I wouldn't believe your initial instinct though. For all that's been thrown at us thus far, it hasn't been that hard to stay alive through it all. Knock on wood. [He winks.]

Space mongoose.

I didn't say that. In fact, that tends to do more harm than good. Stresses out the body.

[ He hums. ] Depends on if you think we're done with the memory sharing or not.

[Another laugh. Oh Ianto, of course this would be you.]

Space mongoose. Oh, of course.

[Jack sighs, sitting back for a moment, drumming his fingers on the desk in front of him (of course he's broadcasting from a desk.] Who knows whether we'll ever be done with the memory sharing. There was that shared memory that everyone had, almost a year back. Who's to say we're not all linked somehow, and we don't even know it.

[An idea that doesn't sit well with him. He shakes his head.] These things tend to go in cycles though. Along with the jumps. And with another one coming up fast, I'd say that another cycle is fast approaching as well, wouldn't you...Doctor McCoy, isn't it? [Jack's been around long enough to see his name tossed around, although somehow their paths have managed to stay separate up until this point.]

I hear they're quite the nasty little things. Lure in passersby with their cuteness and enslave them to their will. Like cats, only worse.

[Another laugh at the cats comment.]

Now, now, Ianto. What did cats ever do to you? Or are we speaking from experience here?

[A wicked smirk.]

[At that, Ianto scowls.]

You know very well what cats have done to me. Not the least of which was you and bloody Yvonne.

[ McCoy's in medbay, if the noise around him is any indication, because unlike some people he doesn't necessarily do well with being idle at a desk when broadcasting. ] Considering how most mental links work even in a hivemind sort of atmosphere, it wouldn't just switch off and on. I don't know about you but I don't constantly feel connected to the rest of you all.

[ Of course, that's applying actual logic to this ship and that's a joke in and of itself. ] Yeah, it's Doctor McCoy. There was that point in time where it seemed quiet. Had us all on our toes the entire time because we were just waiting for something to happen and yet nothing did. It put the cycle out of whack.

[chuck just smiles back because despite her question she does agree with him] Yeah, I guess that is true around here. [she pauses to consider his question] It would be nice if something bad didn't happen but who knows maybe we'll discover another part new part of the ship next jump.

Ah Yvonne. God rest her soul. Souls? I know they're supposed to have nine lives, but I forget what they say about their souls.

[Jack's still convinced that Myfanwy ate her, even after forcing Ianto to go through her stool and coming up with nothing. Another reason the pair of them don't get along, him and Myfanwy.]

Oh, and...Puska, wasn't it?

[Wow Ianto you really aren't good with cats are you?]

Captain Jack Harkness. [Jack introduces himself back. In case McCoy doesn't know him. He might not, Jack knows he's not been the most public figure here on the Tranquility lately.] If it's not a mental link, then how do you explain all the shared memories, shared emotions?

And alright, point. So there are periods of rest. I'm not sure whether that's better or worse. It's not like any of us can relax when it does. This place has got us trained to expect something coming, and those who aren't, should be.

I know of you, after all, you're one of those first wave people. [ Welcome to the adventures of having former best friends who kept a weird amount of notes on people and getting said notes. ] I never said it wasn't a mental link. I just said it couldn't be a constant one. When you had physical contact last jump with someone you shared a link with, it went away after a few hours. Most normal links, at least in my world, wouldn't stop like that.

People don't want to be. They're idiots for not wanting to be, but constant states of stress don't exactly do wonders for a body.

A new part of the ship sounds exciting. We could use a bit of adventure. Granted, something better than the labs. Let's see...

We've already got the oxygen gardens and the swimming pools. We could use all the distractions we can get. What else sounds good?

Three sodding months you made me look through Myfanwy's stool, Jack Harkness, and there wasn't so much as a tuft of fur! Puska was meant to be my bloody revenge.

[It turned out very poorly. Ianto's no good with cats when you're around, Jack. Otherwise, he gets on just fine.]

[Notes on people? If Jack were to become aware of these notes he'd want to know just what exactly those notes said. There are certain facts about him that these former best friends possibly could have written down that he doesn't want getting into the wrong hands. Then again, McCoy himself is probably far from the wrong hands for details of his immortality to fall into, but. Still.]

Normal links wouldn't, no. Suppose they links are all there though, and someone just upped the dials for a little. Physical contact was necessary to achieve equilibrium. [He shrugs.] Or who knows. I'm just trying to make sense of it all, same as anyone else.

Dying doesn't exactly do wonders for a body either, if people let themselves get too complacent. Believe me, I know. If there were a choice between the two I know which one I'd pick.

It feels like we just had one, too.

Yeah, that definitely would be exciting. [because she still really loves adventure even with their current circumstances]

You know, I'm not too sure since that kind of varies for everyone— I spend a lot of time in the gardens so that's kind of a distraction in itself for me at least. [though aside from that she would probably name all the things because her life was pretty sheltered and she never got the chance to go out much]

There are rather more people than I would expect there to be, considering how supposedly "dangerous" this place is.

Personally I've found it to be quite peaceful, at times. But I keep getting told it'll get worse soon.

[ He likes to think of those sort of details as falling under doctor and patient confidentiality agreements. No one but him really needs to know anything about the whole immortality thing because it technically doesn't matter outside of not freaking someone out because you died and came back to life or something to that effect. ]

There'd still be that baseline of a link. You can't have a link that just doesn't have some form of connection you can somehow feel even if it's small and seems like a normal weird out of place feeling. It's not out of the question that you could turn it up but none of us were in control of the links.

[ Which begs the question of who would be. ] I had no idea dying didn't do wonders for the body. Not like a doctor who know that. Enough stress can make someone die anyway.
