[Greetings Tranquility. You are greeted to the image of two trolls, one who is familiar to many of you, hanging off the shoulders of a much larger, much more imposing troll. For those who met him fresh after the jump, they'll notice Equius' eyes are now covered with a pair of shades with cracked lenses. Weird.]
Nepeta, you will cease this foolishness and remove yourself from my person.
[Nepeta mimics Equius' stern expression but doesn't remove the arms draped around his shoulders. Her voice drops, trying to sound like the male troll.]
This is not foolishness, this is serious business. Your sweat is so sticky that it's behooving like glue. I'm purrmanently stuck to you now. We have achieved moirail symbiosis. I'm afuraid we have become one.
[Her act immediately crumbles and she laughs, looking over his shoulder and into the camera while still clinging.]
And this, my dear furiends, is my moirail. He's not very good with furst impurressions.
[He scoffs.]
Childish antics and nothing mare. First impressions are arbitrary. We did not agree to discuss such things.
[He rolls his shoulders, but not in any effective way to shake Nepeta off. In fact, he looks quite comfortable with the girl hanging off of him.
True to the spirit of catdom, Nepeta is not swayed by any attempts Equius makes at moving her off. Even if he succeeded she'd just lay in his lap or on his electronics until he pays attention to her. She just rolls her eyes.]
Wow, what a great repurresentative of our species. Even a better troll ambassador than Eridan. [Pause. She leans in and quickly whispers something in his ear before addressing the audience again.]
Don't be fooled by his impawsing demeanor, or his gross smell or sweating and purrtending that he doesn't like fun! He's not so bad. [pinches his cheek lovingly] I've talked a few peoples' ears off about you, you know, the least you can do is be furiendly!
I refuse. [A pause.] I am not purr, pretending. We are far past our wriggler days. I command you to cease your slanderous lies at once.
[MOVING ON, addressing the camera this time.]
It has come to Ms. Leijon's attention that several of her poorly chosen acquaintances have gone missing.
[She frowns, giving him an offended scoff and a light whack upside the head. Not that it'd put a dent in him but it's the thought that counts.]
They're my friends. [And the lack of cat pun indicates her seriousness on this matter. For the first time since this transmission began her expression falters to reveal her worry. Her pupils contract into nervous slits.] And they keep disappurring. If more of my furiends have gotten "lost," I'm gonna start seriously contemplating having you install some trackers in them so that we can always find them. You can do that, right?
Of horse. I have placed tracking chips in several my robots successfully, I canter imagine any difficulties beyond acquiring materials and the proper tools.
[A self assured nod. If Equius is ever in his element (that isn't disapproving of things he has no business disapproving of) it's robotics, electronics, technology. A slight look off screen, before he speaks again.]
Flesh and bone hinders the most effective areas for placement but it is perfectly doable.
[Equius rolls his shoulder again, this time as if to say silly girl.
The effect is obvious. Nepeta relaxes, looking less like a ball of tightly-wound worry ready to spring and more like her usual self. Behold the power of moirallegiance.]
I knew you could. [Her smile returns as she rubs her cheek against him like a particularly thankful cat. Or one that's begging for food. Same thing, really. Then she perks up optimistically.]
At least there's that option fur... whenever they're back. And I'm sure they will! Back in our own universe I told Equius I'd see him again soon, and look! I was right! The ship part is a little unexpected but I'm hardly complaining, heehee!
[...right. Nepeta may not see it but the camera will catch Equius' jaw tightening for a mooment, mouth grimacing and showing a hint of sharp teeth. As quick as it comes it disappears, replaced with an expression pinched with confusion.]
Unexpected yes. To suddenly awaken on this vessel filled with humans with their own cultural norms and expectations. I still do not understand how you manage to live without a caste system.
[Code blue code blue someone is about to start talking about the hemospectrum.]
The same way we're living without the caste system now? Beclaws it's silly and irrelevant?
[This is what happens when you're away too long Equius. Nepeta finally detaches herself from him and moves behind him.
Equius however is nearly blue with shame. The audacity, from his moirail.]
There is nothing silly [he spits out the word harshly] about tradition that has been apart of our world for countless sweeps. The hemospectrum is the basis of our society, neigh, the foundation of our very livelihood. You may claim your blood color does not matter but it has influenced every aspect of your life.
[A much more notable pause.]
...yes, an exchange of world histories is in order. It has been brought to my attention the majority of you are red blooded - how unfortunate. [equius stop] On Alternia, you would be placed at the bottom of the rung, as it were. To be red is to be weak. From there the castes climb up. Orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
My blood is a dignified shade of royal blue. My strength is a natural reflection of that. It is only natural I have more inferiors than I do superiors. You will respect that and respond accordingly. I have made myself perfectly clear.
[Meanwhile, in the background behind Equius, Nepeta makes silly faces, crossing her eyes and sticking out her tongue to mock this very serious cultural lesson. You can tell she is deeply invested in this hemospectrum stuff. Yep.
As soon as Equius finishes she immediately stops and stands rigid, pretending as though she was paying rapt attention the whole time.]
So hypothetically speaking, what if a high blood such as yourself has a thing fur red-bloods. [she winks at the camera with a mischievous grin.] Purrsonally I don't see that as shameful, but I'm sure Tranquility would like your thoughts on that! You know. Fur clarity's sake.
There is no 'thing.' That you even dare to insinuate such a 'thing,' such an impossibly fallacious -
[His face drops, mouth slack and oh, he looks halfway to being destroyed.]
That was one isolated incident. I attempted to rectify the depravity of it. I have learned from my mistakes.
[Too soon, Nepeta. Too soon. And speaking of hopeless flushed feelings...]
And what about you, do not tell me you are still flushed for that foul mouthed midget who has such a complex of his own blood that he hides it from public view. He is an insult to yourself.
[Nepeta's whole face flushes an olive green color in embarrassment or indignation or both. She lunges toward him, making a grab for his communication device.]
You--! Oh it's on now. Purrpare yourself for the pouncing of a lifetime!
[Equius quickly moves the communicator out of reach but it's all for naught. It goes flying from his hands, skidding across the floor. The last image it provides is Equius slamming face first into the floor, with Nepeta on his back.
If you listen carefully you can hear a faint utter of fiddlesticks before the camera cuts off.]
