So has anybody tried writing a ship constitution? Not even a full system of law but just a constitution, some established precedents besides this helpful page.
It might be worthwhile to develop a protocol for how to address the situation if it happens again. For example, designate several volunteers who would be willing to disseminate the information privately, or willing to hold instructional meetings.
And this must be what they mean by the old phrase, "everyone's a critic." Tell you what, go track down everyone who objected to the flowers and everyone else who agrees with you, have a lively debate about it, and come back with whatever compromise you've come up with. We'll comply with whatever decision you make.
