I have n-never made much study of the n-natural sciences, and find myself knowing m-much less of the subject than is common among the rest of the Tranquilitii. But I believe I m-may c-claim some expertise in language. Besides Greek and Latin and dialects thereof, I c-can read and c-converse in P-Punic, Aramaic, Hebrew, and Et-t-truscan. [slightly flustered tone after having struggled with that word] I believe I am the l-last man of m-my time to s-speak Etruscan, th-though you m-must excuse m-my imp-pediment in any language, which m-may make c-conversation m-more trouble than it is w-w-worth. I have also some languages which I can read but cannot speak - P-parthian, for example, and the New Eg-gyptian script but n-not the old.
