[ The video feed shows Toshiko at her Comms station, looking exactly like every other resident of the ship who has gone for days without a decent night's sleep or a shower. Yes, she is still on duty. ]

Nice to finally have the lights and heat back, isn't it? I'd like to ask everyone a favor. If you happen to stumble across a little piece of equipment like this- [ She holds up a small, crude bundle of circuitry and metal ] -don't panic. It's just left from an attempt we made at tracking the source of those sounds we all heard over the network. A failed attempt, unfortunately, but you can't fault us for trying. In fact, if you find one, we'd be grateful if you'd drop it back by Communications for us.

And by the way, I'm seeing chatter about some changes to our decor. Do I even want to ask?

[OOC: Action for Comms folk is open, network only for everyone else until after Isaac has a chance to make her go back to her room. ]

Tosh! Tosh, are you in there?

[ Yes indeed she is, although she almost wishes maybe Jack had slightly different timing. ]

Um...I better answer that or he'll just start calling my mobile. [ With an apologetic smile for Howard, she gets up and heads to the door to open it. ]

Yes, Jack, I'm here and I'm fine. You want to come in?

[Howard just looks over. Who is this guy, taking up time?]

[Not knowing that she has company, Jack has no qualms sticking around her door, waiting for her to let him in (not that he would even if he did know)]

You okay? Haven't seen you in a few days. Haven't worked yourself into the ground, have you? You get Ianto to brew you any industrial strength coffee since the lights have been back on? [He doesn't know, he's been off invading the bridge himself. He's got a lot to tell her about that. It can wait until they don't have company, though]

Jack! I'm fine.

[ She laughs and stands aside with the door open so he can come into the room. ]

I haven't had a chance to see Ianto yet, I think I'll wait on the coffee until after I've had a little sleep. You're all right? [ She knows he was out and about from Ianto, and also knows enough not to ask specifics. ]

I'll keep an eye out for any, ma'am. A change in decor?

The best people to trust your secrets to are the ones who are probably going to find them out anyway. [ Just accept the inevitable, Tranquility. ]

I think you should let me keep an eye on things here while you go sleep for a couple of hours in a real bed.

They're signal receivers, like a cellular network tower. Pretty crude, I'll admit, but we did what we could with the materials we had on hand. The next generation will be more sophisticated.

I appreciate that, thanks. There aren't that many, it's not like people will be tripping over them. But to be honest, we're all exhausted, and the very last thing I want to do right now is traipse all over the ship picking them up. And by decor I meant the masks, on everyone's door?

[ She pauses, bites at her lip a second as she works out a delicate way to ask the question on her mind. ]

You're...Captain Rogers, aren't you? Bucky's friend.

I've still got some energy left in me, and I've good eyesight. [ He hesitates, as if deciding whether or not it's really his place to speak up. ] I hope you don't think I'm crossing a line here, ma'am, but when's the last time you got some sleep, something to eat?

[ He makes a face at the mention of the masks, a nod of realisation as he catches on; he put his own mask on all but twice, and after the unpleasantness of the second one he's managed to fight the urge to do it again. ]

I am, ma'am, but I'm not sure I'm worthy of the rank aboard the ship. Steve'll do fine.

Then if you do happen across any, just drop them by Comms when it's convenient for you? [ She laughs a little at the question, which isn't over the line at all, although she is beginning to wonder just how bad she must look. ] Had a sandwich not too long ago and I've some coffee right here now. As for sleep, I guess it depends on whether you mean napping in a chair or actual sleep in a real bed.

[ She makes a face too, because although she hasn't seen any of them up close yet, just the idea is creepy. ]

All right. And I'm Toshiko, not ma'am, please.

I do like a good distraction, and tracking down hard to find items is a specialty.

[ lol thieves. ]

I managed. It's certainly not an experience I'd like to repeat though.

If I may inquire- by what method did you make your attempt?

[Howard turns to the door, still quiet, arms at his sides. He also smooths down his mustache - it's a bit of a nervous gesture.]

[ Nerds and their work; she's gotten used to helping Connor recover after he gets lost in a project for days on end, so there's a mix of concern and good humor in her tone. ]

You are planning on eating and sleeping at some point, yeah? [ A beat, then- ] If you do get back to your room anytime soon, maybe avoid looking at the back of your door. You'll sleep better.

I miss it, honestly. Life... kind of took a turn there and changed my plans, but I had the best years of my life in college.

[ tosh you don't understand she will love you until the end of time. ] Anything I can do? Yours, without a question. Whirlpool tub, Tosh. I haven't taken anything but a shower in almost a year-- the pools don't count.

You know me, Tosh. I'm always alright.

[It doesn't really answer her question, but then that's Jack for her. He smiles wide as she opens the door for him, a smile that doesn't drop so much as change slightly when she steps aside and allows him to enter the room enough to notice the other man in the room. He raises his eyebrows slightly]

You've got company.

[Note that he's not offering to leave even though he knows he's interrupting.]

You can count on me. [ He's used to doing far more than he does here to help out in times of crisis, so he's more than happy to help, even in something as trivial as finding a missing piece. Still, every little helps. ] I'm not entirely sure napping in a chair counts.

[ He looks apologetic; old habits die hard. ] Sorry, ma-- Toshiko. [ Sheepishly. ] Do you know Bucky well?

[ Tosh gives Howard another small, apologetic smile, because she knows Jack can be a handful at times. She's pleased that he's come to look in on her, though, and lets the door close and then steps around him so she's about midway between the two men. ]

Jack, this is Howard Stark. Howard, Captain Jack Harkness, from back home. [ She'll leave it up to him as to whether he wants to put himself forth as her boss or just a colleague. ]

Yep. Better not to ask. Let's focus on finally having light and heat and all that, yeah?

[ Not like she's super weirded out by the masks or anything. ]

I enjoyed my classes and what I learned. But I have a feeling we didn't share the same kinds of experiences.

Well, I think the big obstacle really is just finding or constructing the tub part of that equation. Find me someone who can cover that? The mechanical portion is easy peasy.

Maybe I'll make it contest and give a prize to the person who brings back the most.

[ She has no idea what kind of prize she could offer, but it would be worth it to get all the pieces back without someone scavenging them for their own use. ]

Not high on the fun scale, that's for certain. Though better than my previous experiences with roughing it.

Thanks, I really appreciate the help. [ Have a nice, bright smile for your troubles, Steve. ] Then I guess that would be, um...however long it's been since the lights went out.

[ Her expression goes thoughtful and troubled for a moment. If dragging a person into your worst nightmare and watching him die there counts, then she'd have to say she knows Bucky pretty well. ] I suppose next to my friends who are here from home, I probably known Bucky better than I know anyone else here. Maybe aside from Howard. He's a good guy.

[ It takes a moment for Tosh to reply, due to her brain suffering a momentary geekgasm. ]

Um. Well it was a pretty thrown-together sort of thing, we didn't really have all the materials we needed, but basically -- we made several small signal receivers and put them in areas around the ship. Or at least places we could get to. And then used them to bounce the transmission signals and measure time and distance to narrow down the area where the signal originated from. It's a work in progress.
