[Despite recent events, Kabuto seems completely unphased by all of this, just keeping to his room which seems to be a bit of a makeshift lab from what he can piece together. He sighs a bit to himself, pushing his glasses up with his middle finger before addressing everyone at large.]

Seeing as things are going as... unfortunate, as we hadn't hoped, I believe it is time for me to say something to the mass at large. My name is Kabuto Yakushi and I am, I believe, the person who's been here the longest when it comes to the xenobiology and genetics group. Thus I would like to propose a theory.

Genetics is a curious creature, one that if used properly can be made to the benefit of everyone around. Everything from curing diseases, fixing genetic problems, making one better and stronger, to even growing replacement limbs or parts in case someone needs them. Thus I ask of those of you on this ship to allow myself to collect a simple piece of DNA in order to have on file in case these become necessary. I assure you that they will not be used towards ill-will as, despite the differences between medical codes, it goes against everything I have been taught.

Also, I may not be a proper member of medical, but I am also available if anyone needs medical attention. I was taught from childhood how to heal and handle medical problems and have only grown in my years, studying under some of the best my world has to offer. Our methods are not invasive, instead using chakra-[He pauses, allowing his hands to gain a blue aura] to heal and handle poisons as well. [He cuts the glow, smiling.] Therefore if you have a problem that you cannot have dealt with via surgery or would rather not be cut open, I offer you that alternative.

What, precisely, are your medical credentials?

Would you rather me put them in terms that are similar or in what are actually my credentials?

Was my question, "What are your credentials," or was it, "What is a broad interpretation of your credentials which you would guess I would find palatable in spite of knowing nothing whatsoever of me"?

I can assume that you aren't from my world, given that you have to ask such a question. Therefore it is merely a question of clarification. You legal types have always bored me.

[He shifts around for a moment, adjusting his suit a little more.]

I was trained from childhood by a member of the medics of Konohagakure, underwent training as that and as a shinobi when I went through the shinobi academy, I studied under Orochimaru-sama who is well known for his work in the field of genetics and medical jutsu as well as jutsu at large, I have been compared and gone toe-to-toe with my world's best medic, and I know various different forms of medical technique that is unknown where I come from.

There, is that better for you or do I need to break down my terminology even further for your simplistic mind?

He is an imbecile indeed who sees another's inexperience and thinks it stupidity. So, please, imbecile: I invite you to clarify your terms. I even give you permission to think yourself superior while doing it, since I've little doubt it will be your last chance for a long while.

Aren't you just a ball of sunshine, good grief. Konohagakure is a ninja village, shinobi meaning ninjas, Orochimaru is one of the legendary ninjas of my world, jutsu is... it's hard to explain it other than it is techniques using chakral; life energy.

So you're claiming to be a ninja.

Quite. And how does this make you competent to serve as a doctor?

[Hah. Funny that it's the opposite way around in his world.]

Shinobi that are in the medical side of things specialize in that, meaning that I was trained to do so. I can prove it to you, if you'd like. It's a simple enough thing to do.

And how, precisely, would you do so?

[Oh, you know. Just by cutting his arm open with this glass shard here.]

Oh, you know. Demonstration. [A smirk crosses over his lips, that blue glow returning as he passes his hand over the spot and after about a minute the cut's gone without a single sign that it was there to begin with.]

[And that gets Miles' attention. He opens his mouth to protest the moment he sees that wound being inflicted - and then clamps it shut again as soon as he sees it healed. His voice, when he speaks again, is harsh and low.]

A parlor trick.

Nothing of the sort. Infusing chakra into a wound makes it heal faster than it would by itself. It's a simple matter of just getting it to heal quicker than it would normally. The same method, with some adjustments, can be used to remove toxins from the body, as well.

Right. Or it was a trick involving the camera.

We don't have this technology in my world, so that would be a no.

Do you have it in this one?

Well, yes. But the only things I know how to do with it is get the damned thing to turn to the various functions. Nothing more.

And yet for some reason I think it more plausible that you're lying about your ability to edit the video than the possibility that you're telling the truth about being able to "magically" heal your wound.

Once again, it isn't magic. All it is is making the wound heal faster, are you familiar with the concept of chakra?

I don't precisely go in for religious mumbo-jumbo.

... Religious? What on Earth are you talking about? It's nothing more than life energy, everyone has it and it can be tapped into. There's nothing religious about it.

And mustn't they be aligned, et cetera?

Uh, no. Everyone has chakra, no matter who you are. There's nothing special one has to do.

Hmph. Well, where I come from, the same term is used in a religious sense.

Odd. Well, I can tell you that it certainly isn't where I'm from. Religion really... well, there's some, but they're more out there. Like sacrificing people in the name of them.

Beg pardon - what was that last thing you said?

Ah. It's just... there's a bit of a radical group that has this thing where they tend to sacrifice people in the name of someone they call Jashin. To be fair, the one person I met who was a part of that group was absolutely insane.

If the tenets of their religion include human sacrifice, I rather doubt you'd meet any who were sane.

I honestly couldn't tell you a thing about it other than what he's said. And, well, very little that comes out of his mouth is anything close to sane. Though I guess it comes with the territory if you're immortal...

They would need to be secured, obviously -- if anyone were to volunteer to give them, that is.

[ Part of her has a bad feeling about this, mostly because of what happened to Bruce... but she's a cellular biologist. This is her field, and she can see the good points, too. ]

Of course, I wouldn't dream of them being out in the open like that. If someone with more medical division sway would like to help out in this endeavor and have a secured location, I would greatly appreciate it.

[Oh, she has a bad feeling for a very good reason. But, to be fair, Kabuto has been good about this not being a crazy psychopath thing. Thus he smiles a bit at her, curious.]

I can't say I've seen you around here before.

Perhaps security should be involved as well? Simply because it does involve the safety of those on the ship -- and it may make people more comfortable about the whole idea.

[ There's a polite smile back. ]

I just arrived. I'm Dr. Elizabeth Ross -- I'm a cellular biologist and university professor.

If they wish to get involved, then they are certainly welcomed to.

[Cellular biology... now that is certainly an interesting thing to him. He shifts a bit, placing his back against the wall to be a bit more comfortable.]

A pleasure. I'm assuming you've placed yourself amongst our ranks, then? Not that... there's a lot of us over in xenobiology and genetics, it's a shame.

I have. It seemed like a good idea, especially considering what I saw of the staff list for the department.

I'm not quite up to the science level that this ship seems to be at, unfortunately. I'll need some time in the lab to acclimatize myself, preferably as soon as possible. [ You never know what might happen, after all. ]

I welcome it, we had more previously, but they've been... lost in these jump cycles. I'm more familiar on the genetics side of things, but I've been doing my best to get us up to par with the standards we should be at.

[A small bit of a laugh at the lab thing, motioning to his makeshift devices.] We have this and what medical has. The lab proper is locked off from us for some strange reason.

Well, at least that balances things out.

[ Urgh. Betty frowns, but her mind's whirling away. ] Well, continued improvisation is good. If we're sharing with medical, though, there may be some issues as to the number of supplies -- and space.

Is it electronically locked, or does it appear to actually be barricaded?

That it does. Particularly if you're used to a higher level of technology than I am.

[Hm-hm. He pauses for a moment, closing his eyes to try and remember exactly what the problem was.] Electronically, I believe. I wouldn't have a problem if it was just barricaded, but these locks absolutely baffle my mind.

As for space, medical doesn't seem to really mind the sharing and I tend to keep things rather... small for the time being.

Well, I'm not aware of anyone who uses chakra for healing purposes back home. We can probably learn a lot from each other.

[ Oh, but she's excited now. ] If it is electronic, there should be some way to get inside. Someone on this ship has to be able to figure it out.

Indeed. Chakra really isn't that difficult of a concept, to be perfectly fair. But to be a healer it requires absolute control over it. Fascinating, that.

[Oh, oh that excitement is interesting and he's making a note of it. She's become one of the few he doesn't feel the need to use as a human shield.] Considering I've been here for months and no one has, I think it's a little more difficult than it looks. But, once more, not something I'm familiar with.

I've heard of it, of course, but I've never actually seen any.

[ Oh. Oh good. ] Maybe they just need the right push.

Mm. You will in due time, I'm sure someone is going to do something to get hurt around here. It's a constant in a chaotic situation.

[It's a rare thing to get from him.] Perhaps. Feel free to give it a try.

Well, with any luck it won't be anything too serious. [ Because she would feel really, terribly guilty if someone was bleeding out and she was standing there watching chakra. ]

Hopefully. But with current situations, it'll probably be something more serious than we'd like. At least my abilities can keep most anyone from dying ass long ass their vital organs are intact.

[Hm-hm. Pausing for a moment, looking over at his makeshift lab.] Zero-Zero-Two and One-Eight-Zero, by the way.

[ Note to self: be careful with vital organs.

And then she smiles. ] Is that an invitation?

[Vital organs are vital for a reason.]

Whenever you wish to take it up. [Awkwaaaard, but smiling still.]

I'll keep that in mind. I have a few things I want to get settled a little more firmly first, but perhaps in a few days, if not sooner.
