Hey everyone.

I'm sure some sort of demographics survey has been done in the past but I haven't seen one since I've been here and I'm curious. I've tried to keep it pretty basic. I know people are touchy about their privacy, and I know some aren't cool with being asked about special abilities/skills/powers/whatever, so obviously skip questions if you want to, no hard feelings. I'd rather just get name/age/planet than nothing at all, you know? Not like I'm going to hunt you down and force you to fill it out. But if you're willing to be more complete that'd be awesome and if there's something you think is important that I didn't include a field for, let me know.

Maybe there's a pattern here somewhere, maybe there's not, but at the very least it might be interesting or provide some useful data for department recruitment or something. Maybe you'll find some friends, whatever.

They still keep their ability, nothing happens to them at all. I just replicate it for awhile until I touch someone else who can... do something different.

Interesting. And it just happens, you don't have to(/get to?) consciously choose whether or not to replicate it?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It's happened on accident a few times but for the most part it's my choice.

Cool. Do you have a favorite of the abilities you've tried?

Flying. Flying's always been a favorite.

Been a lot more useful ones in the moment- healing, for one thing. But nothing's knocked flying out of first place.

Yeah, I've always thought if I could only try one I'd pick flying. Teleporting would be handy, and telekinesis would be pretty awesome, but it's hard to say no to flying. My friends who can do it don't seem to appreciate it enough.

I've used all of them- they've all been useful. Can't complain about a single one. Probably miss telekinesis the most for when you need just about anything but you learn how to make do without them when they're gone.

Don't really appreciate any of them enough until they're all gone, though.

Yeah, I think telekinesis would be my second choice, it seems crazy versatile. Some people can even fly using it, so if I could have that kind, it'd jump up to first.

So have you always been able to do this, or was there some sort of experiment or freak accident or something?

Never seen anyone fly using it but i've seen someone cut through bone. I think it's more versatile than people first want to believe it is. Always impressive to hear new ways to use an ability, though.

Mine first developed a couple of years ago- genetic trait that didn't appear until I was 26. I had a different ability back then though, that I lost. Had stolen.

Yeah, it seems like the sort of ability that's mostly limited by what you can imagine/teach yourself. What was your original ability? How did it get stolen?

You don't have the Avengers or X-Men in your world, do you?

I used to be an empathic mimic. Sort of the same as I am now but I only had to be close to people to mimic their abilities. And I kept all of them, never traded any back in. Still didn't steal them or do the other person any damage. And I lost it because my dad's an asshole. The whole story's a lot more complicated but I still don't mind sharing.

Yeah, the people. Are they not people in your world?

That sucks about your dad. I have a teammate who had something similar, or I guess maybe it's closer to what you can do now. If he was near someone he acquired all their knowledge and skills, but it got taken away. He still has it all in his head but he can't get anything new unless he learns it the normal old-fashioned way.

Nope, they don't exist where I come from. At least not that they know of.

Sounds close enough. It's like knowing that part of yourself has been taken away. I can't really explain it but my original ability - it was who I am. Who I was. And apparently who I am now is someone entirely different but you can't help missing what used to make you whole.

[ It takes Kate a while to respond to this one, though not as long as it's taken me OOC. ] I guess I can understand that, in a way. Even if what you are now is as good or better it's still like some version of you died. That's bound to be unsettling.

Are there superhero teams in your world at all?

That's definitely one word for it.

There aren't any of them. Definitely a few times where people with abilities teamed up but nothing like what you're talking about. We've mostly been divided - working together's hard when everyone's going in different directions.

Out of all of them? Yeah.

And... Right. I guess I just thought you'd moved on to bigger and greater things. Never thought it was such a big deal.

It's not a big deal, it's just my favorite. That doesn't mean that I didn't appreciate any of the other abilities I used to have.

No, of course not. What do you have right now, anyway?

I can control earth. Rocks, dirt- I can cause sinkholes. Can be as useful as telekinesis from what i've seen.

At least that's what I had last I knew.

Not much earth and rocks up here, but if we went planetside might be the most useful ability anyone here's got.
