People disappear a lot here. Anyone who's been here more than two jumps knows that by now. That there's no predicting the comings and goings.

[Nothing new so far. As he said.]

But what really bothers me is... it bothers me less, now. This is the third time, with Luke. I think that I might actually be getting used to it.

[And that's actually quite horrifying.]

[This is Death, this is Death with the skull face/body, creepy eyes, black robe and if you look off to the side you can probably see a scythe. He does however have a cat sitting on his shoulder like it's a totally comfortable place to hang out. It might look a bit weird is what I'm saying. Death however speaks up.]

AH, HELLO.

I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MORE THEN A FEW PEOPLE WITH CATS ON BOARD THIS SHIP.

[The cat on his shoulder does not seemed freaked out by this skeleton at all, in fact it may be purring.]

AND I WAS THINKING THAT AT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE WE COULD GATHER TOGETHER AND PERHAPS LET THEM MEET. ....AND MEET EACH OTHER AS WELL. THE GARDENS MIGHT BE A NICE PLACE.

WE COULD HAVE TEA. OR PERHAPS SOME OTHER TYPE OF FOOD OR DRINK.

[Come have tea with Death....and his cat. Please?]

[Death's sitting in what is clearly a passenger room, but not decorated in any particularly personal way.]

Hey. Bit of a month we've had, isn't it?

I'm not a trained therapist or anything. [Being older than psychology and all] But my job usually means running into people when they're at their worst. So I've gotten pretty good at listening.

I've grabbed room one on deck nine of the passenger quarters if anyone just wants someone to talk to. Or just wants tea and cookies. I promise that at my age, there's pretty much nothing you can tell me that I haven't heard before at some point. And it's never my place to judge or spill your secrets to someone else.

((OOC: Feel free to answer on the network or just action on down to her "office"))

[Wash is looking a bit frazzled, but he's still managing a friendly smile]

Hi Tranquility. Reckon I've had time to get to know a lot of you over the past year or so, but with folk always coming and going it doesn't hurt to introduce myself. I'm Wash and I'm a pilot by trade.

And in a lot of ways it's the going I want to talk to you about. I'm on the Flight Crew and as of the last jump, there's just three of us left. And one of us is a kid. [No offense intended, kid, but you haven't learned to fly]

We're always looking for more members on the crew, but we're particularly looking right about now. Have experience but already in another department? We could still use a hand now and then. Already doubling up too much but know how to fly? We'd at least like to know who we have available if we have to get out of here in a mighty hurry. No experience but eager to help? I'll show you the ropes myself if I have to.

And it's probably worth mentioning that a lot of what we do isn't flying. The shuttles get damaged every jump, so we need people who can help us get them back into working order. [Seriously this job is never ending.]

So if you want to help, just give me a wave and let me know what skills you've already got. We can figure the rest out from there.

[Zoë's not really very comfortable with the technology on the ship yet, but she's a quick learner and has some help adjusting to the learning curve. (Thanks there, husband.) But, there's only so much strange shit that she can take without an actual job to occupy her hours.

Hence why she's doing this.]

Gotta say, wasn't really expectin' the whole power outage in the black like that. Not exactly the most comfortin'. I'd complain to our ship's captain, but from what I hear, he's missin'.

So, what's there to do on this ship, 'sides walkin' around floors and waitin' for things to pop out at me so I can shoot them in the face?

Got two things to ask and one thing to offer. I'll try to make it short and sweet.

QUESTION 1: What destroyed or depopulated your version of Earth? Nukes, asteroids, zombies? If nothing did yet, what took the closest shot so far?

Same question if you're not from Earth - just swap out Earth for wherever you came from.

I'm not compiling a spreadsheet or anything. I guess it's just something I've wondered.

QUESTION 2: What are we even doing here? What's our destination? The purpose of the voyage? Who sent us, and why us? Maybe I missed something and by all means point me there if I did, but in less than a day, this ship sucks up more resources than the Ark could spare for a month.

I've been here for over a month now and I'm the first person I've seen ask anything like this so far. I want to think it's because we were up to our airholes in highly invasive nanotechnology. Or - like I said, maybe I missed the big 'who, what, where, and why' memo.

OFFER: I'm bored off my rocks, if you haven't picked up on that yet. I was a zero-G mech back on the Ark, and if that's not enough, I helped fix the thing that saved your asses pre-Jump. I can repair, rebuild, or build from scrap just about anything you can think of. So somebody give me a job before I start opening panels and improving whatever the hell's inside.

[ is she serious? she very well could be, so throw her a bone here, yeah? ]
